[Transcript] Kevin Roose does a science communication and AGI sociology in Vox interview
This is my second article on journalist coverage of AI and AI safety movements after the HuggingFace incident. The first one was about Garrison Lovely's "Obsolete", and was more of a review. You can read it here . Kevin Roose, longtime journalist at the New York Times and now cohost of the podcast "Machine Gods" at NPR, has been doing media rounds in support of his new book, " The AGI Chronicles: The Inside Story of the Race to Create an Artificial Superintelligence". I think it's useful to see what journalist coverage of frontier AI development, the AI safety movement, rationalism and EA looks like after the HuggingFace hack and Jacob Coxon. I've attached the transcript here. Transcript: Intro / Overview Kevin Roose: 10 years ago, this was crazy. These people who have made all these predictions for a long time about AI becoming powerful and scary have been very vindicated by that belief. Ch
